Overview

Block is seeking a Behavioral Insights Fraud Analyst - Special Risk to join its Risk & Compliance team. In this role you will apply behavioral analytics to detect and prevent sophisticated fraud across Block's products, including Cash App. You will partner with data science, security, product and operations to protect customers and the business.

Responsibilities

Analyze user behavior and transaction data to identify fraud signals and emerging threats.
Design, implement and tune detection signals, rules and models to reduce fraud while minimizing friction for legitimate users.
Build dashboards and metrics to monitor fraud risk and performance of controls.
Collaborate with data science, security, product and risk operations to respond to incidents and drive improvements.
Investigate anomalies and escalations, document findings, and provide actionable recommendations.
Communicate insights and recommendations to cross-functional partners and leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics) or equivalent experience.
3+ years of fraud analytics, risk, or payments experience.
Strong SQL skills and experience with data visualization and analysis (e.g., SQL, Python/R, spreadsheets).
Experience with behavioral analytics, anomaly detection, and risk scoring.
Familiarity with payments ecosystem and fraud prevention tools.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

Experience with machine learning concepts or experimentation (A/B testing).
Experience with fraud detection platforms or tools.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to payments and fraud.
