Description
Block is seeking an Appeals Policy and Strategy Manager to lead the development and execution of policy and strategy for appeals and regulatory compliance. This role will partner with Legal, Compliance, Public Policy, Risk Management, and Product to shape Block's position on appeals, interpret evolving regulations, and drive governance across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong policy analysis, cross-functional leadership, and proven ability to build scalable processes and metrics for monitoring policy performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of Block's policy and strategy for customer appeals processes and related regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Public Policy, Risk, and Product teams to interpret laws and translate them into actionable policy and procedures.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess impact on Block's operations; communicate implications to leadership and teams.
- Design and optimize governance processes, metrics, and controls ensuring timely and fair appeals decisions.
- Coordinate external and internal stakeholder communications; represent Block in relevant industry discussions as needed.
- Mentor and lead cross-functional teams; drive alignment across business units on policy positioning and execution.
- Develop training and awareness materials to ensure consistent application of policy across the organization.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in policy development, regulatory affairs, compliance, or legal roles, with a focus on appeals or regulatory processes.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking with the ability to translate complex regulations into practical policy guidelines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence across functions.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and teams, with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (JD, LLM, or related) preferred.
