Role overview
Bird is seeking a hands-on Vehicle Mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of electric scooters and other micro-mobility vehicles in the San Francisco area. This on-site role supports our operations by ensuring vehicle reliability, safety, and uptime for riders.
What you'll do
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and perform routine maintenance on Bird's electric vehicles
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, batteries, and charging components
- Use diagnostic tools and OEM manuals to guide repairs and ensure quality workmanship
- Perform preventive maintenance, needed part replacements, and safety inspections
- Keep the workshop organized, document work performed, and manage parts inventory
- Collaborate with the operations team to minimize downtime and maintain fleet availability
What we're looking for
- 2+ years of experience as a vehicle mechanic or EV technician (or related field)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, battery maintenance, and mechanical repair
- Ability to read schematics and use common diagnostic tools (multimeter, basic hand tools)
- Safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Nice-to-have ASE certification or equivalent training
