Vehicle Mechanic - San Diego, CA

Overview

Bird is seeking a Vehicle Mechanic in San Diego, CA to maintain and repair our fleet of scooters and bikes. You will diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure vehicles are safe and road-ready for daily operation.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults in vehicles and components using diagnostic tools and schematics
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on Bird's fleet, including drive systems, brakes, suspension, tires, batteries, and electrical systems
• Repair mechanical and electrical issues on scooters and bikes, replace worn parts, and document work in our maintenance system
• Use service manuals and wiring diagrams to guide repairs; follow safety protocols
• Collaborate with the operations team to minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability
• Maintain a clean, organized shop and manage inventory of spare parts

Qualifications

• 2+ years of automotive, motorcycle, or micro-mobility fleet maintenance experience; EV maintenance is a plus
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, and ability to read schematics
• Experience using diagnostic tools, multimeters, and hand tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or CERTIFICATION preferred
• Valid driver’s license and ability to lift heavy parts; comfortable working in a shop setting
