Role: Vehicle Mechanic – Bronx, NY

As a Vehicle Mechanic, you will maintain and repair Bird's fleet of electric scooters on-site in the Bronx, ensuring safety and reliability for riders and communities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical systems, batteries, brakes, wheels, drivetrains, and sensors on Bird scooters.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and safety checks.
• Use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify issues; repair or replace faulty components.
• Install software/firmware updates when needed.
• Document repairs and maintenance in internal systems; track parts inventory.
• Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace; assist with parts and tool management.
• Communicate with dispatch and field teams to coordinate repairs and deployments.

Qualifications

• 1+ year experience in scooter, motorcycle, bicycle, or automotive maintenance; or completion of an automotive/mechanical apprenticeship.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, lithium-ion battery technology, and powertrains.
• Ability to read diagrams/schematics and use diagnostic tools (multimeter, etc.).
• Familiarity with torque specs and safe operation procedures.
• Physical ability to lift heavy parts and stand for extended periods.
• Strong communication and teamwork.
