Overview

Bird is a leading micro-mobility company providing shared electric scooters. We are hiring a Vehicle Mechanic in Baltimore, MD to keep our fleet safe and reliable for riders.

Role

As a Vehicle Mechanic at Bird, you will perform maintenance and repairs on Bird scooters to ensure safe operation, high uptime, and quality service for our Baltimore-area fleet.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair Bird scooters and related systems in the field and at the shop.
• Perform preventive maintenance, tire/brake service, battery checks, and component replacements as needed.
• Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and basic electrical testing to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
• Document work performed and manage parts inventory to support timely repairs.
• Adhere to safety policies and quality standards; communicate defects and safety concerns to the team.
• Collaborate with Operations to meet service level objectives and maintain fleet readiness.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of automotive or EV maintenance experience preferred.
• Basic electrical knowledge, familiarity with batteries, wiring, and diagnostics.
• Ability to read manuals, use multimeters and repair tools.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work outdoors and in varying weather.
• High school diploma or equivalent; willingness to learn and grow with Bird.
