Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, has an immediate opening for a Coordinator to support our Subrogation team! This individual possesses prior adjusting experience in workers compensation for the State of California with subrogation acumen, and will balance administrative duties and special projects with a limited caseload in support of Subrogation goal achievement.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Independently create accurate and timely claim document summaries and include appropriate medical reports, invoices, proof of payments, compromise and release, stipulations, and other related documents. Review and evaluate claims data from various databases and incorporate appropriate information into claim document summaries. Prepare legal and other forms, documents, and correspondence for filings and service of documents; request copies of police reports as necessary. Review legal documents and records for accuracy, completeness and conformance with prescribed legal requirements.Maintain case list with ongoing status of cases.Manage a limited number of subrogation claims within limited authority parameters. Receive and allocate recoveries pursuant to financial guidelines.Manage document storage.Track subrogation referrals. Review and distribute mail; review, log, and submit invoices for payment.Assist with report generation, data collection, and distribution.Participate in a variety of subrogation-related projects such as process mapping and process improvements as time permits. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Credential required; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university highly preferred.EXPRIENCE: Minimum of 2 years of California workers compensation adjusting experience required; experience in personal injury litigation or subrogation highly preferred.LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read and interpret information and documents contained in claim files including legal reports, injury reports, medical reports, and investigative reports. Ability to write legal documents, reports and correspondence. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization, as well as external parties, in a variety of situations.MATH AND REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical claims situations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. TECHNICAL SKILLS Claims technical acumen complimented by basic workers compensation adjusting knowledge and regulatory standards for the State of California required.Knowledge of legal terminology and legal clerical procedures pertaining to the preparation and processing of subrogation-related and legal documents required.Basic data analytic skills to perform solid data collection, analysis, and reporting required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products required. Knowledge of claims software systems and ability to master and become proficient on proprietary and vended software programs required.
