Backend Software Engineer - AI & Agentic Systems

📋 Description

• Design backend services that orchestrate language models, tools, and data sources.
• Build and maintain agentic workflows: tool integrations, planners, retries, outputs.
• Improve reliability, latency, and cost of streaming inference.
• Write evaluation harness to test models and prompts without quality regression.
• Collaborate with product, analysts, and frontend engineers on end-to-end features.
• Own code from development through production, following the run-it philosophy.

🎯 Requirements

• Production Python: 5+ years; Senior: 7+ years with ownership of services.
• Strong async fundamentals (asyncio, cancellation, back-pressure).
• Hands-on with LLM systems in production: tool calls, streaming, retries, tracing.
• Production observability: use traces to debug and improve.
• Engineering judgement: simplify systems; defend design choices.
• Familiar with AI dev tooling and coding agents (Claude Code, PI, Cursor).
