Overview
Axon is seeking a Mechanical Failure Analysis Engineer II to join our Hardware Reliability team in Scottsdale, Arizona. In this role you will analyze mechanical components and assemblies, perform root-cause investigations, and drive design-for-reliability improvements across Axon's hardware products.
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical failure investigations on devices and components to identify root causes.
- Develop and execute test plans including environmental and accelerated life testing.
- Perform reliability assessments and contribute to design-for-reliability improvements.
- Apply analytical methods such as finite element analysis (FEA) and materials science to characterize failures.
- Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to implement corrective actions.
- Document findings, create reports, and present results to cross-functional stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical failure analysis or hardware testing.
- Experience with FMEA, FEA (e.g., ANSYS), CAD tooling (SolidWorks/Creo).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Knowledge of materials properties, fasteners, seals, and reliability testing principles.
Nice to have
- Experience with other reliability testing standards or tools is a plus.
