Director, Accounting Strategy & Financial Reporting - Axon

Axon is seeking a Director of Accounting Strategy & Financial Reporting to lead accounting policy, technical accounting and external financial reporting at a high-growth technology company.

Role overview

Lead the development and execution of accounting policies, ensure GAAP/compliance, manage monthly close and external reporting, coordinate with auditors, and drive improvements across the accounting organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical accounting and policy development under GAAP (and other applicable standards).
• Oversee monthly and quarterly close, consolidation, and external reporting.
• Coordinate external audits and manage audit deliverables.
• Collaborate with FP&A and leadership to ensure accurate financial disclosures.
• Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public company reporting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements; experience with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and ASC 842 helpful.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; experience with ERP systems.
