Overview
Axon is seeking a Control Engineer II to join our Manufacturing Engineering team on-site in Phoenix, Arizona. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust control systems for manufacturing equipment to improve reliability, quality, and throughput.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and program control systems for manufacturing lines using PLCs and HMIs.
- Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing teams to specify instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and safety interlocks.
- Commission and troubleshoot control systems on-site; validate performance and document changes.
- Participate in root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and production support.
- Develop test plans, perform validations, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Prepare technical documentation, commissioning procedures, and maintenance instructions.
- Provide training to operators and technicians.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or manufacturing engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience programming PLCs (Siemens S7-1500 or Allen-Bradley ControlLogix or similar), HMI development (WinCC, FactoryTalk, Ignition), and SCADA basics.
- Knowledge of PID control, instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and motor control.
- Strong troubleshooting and data analysis skills; ability to read schematics and ladder logic.
- Excellent communication and teamwork; ability to work on-site in Phoenix, AZ.
- Nice-to-have: knowledge of industrial cybersecurity and safety standards.
