About Axon

Axon is seeking a Senior Director of Manufacturing Engineering to lead and scale our manufacturing engineering organization from our Scottsdale, Arizona campus. This role will set the strategy for all manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement, and partner with cross‑functional teams to deliver quality and capacity at scale.

Overview

The Senior Director, Manufacturing Engineering will define and execute the engineering roadmaps that enable efficient, safe, and compliant manufacturing operations. You will lead a high‑performing, cross‑functional team and collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, and Product teams to ensure on‑time delivery and product excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Create and own the manufacturing engineering strategy and roadmaps aligned with company goals.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team across multiple functions and sites.
  • Scale manufacturing processes and facilities to meet demand while maintaining safety, quality, and cost targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM) and implement data‑driven decision making.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Quality, Product, and R&D to optimize design for manufacturability and reliability.
  • Oversee capacity planning, process validation, automation initiatives, and equipment lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of manufacturing engineering leadership experience, preferably in high‑volume production environments.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling manufacturing operations, process optimization, and automation programs.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies and data‑driven decision making.
  • Experience with safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance in manufacturing.
