Associate Director Production, Axios Live

Overview

Axios Live is seeking an Associate Director of Production to lead the live video production program for Axios Live. This role will oversee planning, execution, and post-production of live broadcasts and related video content, ensuring high production quality and timely delivery across platforms.

What you'll do

• Lead the production team for Axios Live, setting strategy, workflows, and timelines.
• Plan and oversee live broadcasts, post production, and archive workflows.
• Partner with editorial, product, engineering, and marketing teams to deliver high quality content.
• Develop budgets, schedules, and risk management plans; manage vendors and facilities.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage producers and production staff; foster a collaborative culture.
• Drive innovation in formats, streaming tech, and audience engagement.
• Establish KPIs, reporting, and post mortem reviews to drive continuous improvement.

What we are looking for

• 10 plus years of leadership in live production or video operations; experience with newsroom or live editorial environments is a plus.
• Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Experience with live broadcasting platforms, streaming tools, and post production workflows.
• Budget management and vendor relations experience; comfortable negotiating contracts and scopes of work.
• Collaborative, cross functional partner who can work with editors, product, engineering, and business teams.
• Strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling and audience engagement.
