SUMMARY

The QHSE Associate plays a critical role in supporting Avetta’s EMEA operations by conducting manual audits, verifying contractor safety documentation, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and client-specific requirements. This role is essential in driving CARES+ values—Customer Delight, Accountability, Responsiveness, Excellence, and Simplicity—through proactive engagement with EU suppliers and contractors.

If residing within commutable distance to our Maidenhead office, a hybrid schedule would be offered (3 days in office, 2 days work from home). Candidates who reside within commutable distance are strongly preferred, but those outside of commutable distance (but still residing in England) may be considered on a remote basis.

Please note: this role requires full working rights in England/UK without current or future sponsorship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conduct Manual Audits to assess a Contractor’s Safety and Health Programs, Procedures, and Training documentation required based on exposure hazards associated with services performed. The Audits are intended to ensure compliance with applicable legislation (Federal, State, Provincial, etc.) as well as any Client site requirements. In addition, the QHSE Associate will be responsible for the following

  1. Conduct Audits and other assessments within defined SLA timelines (e.g., 10 business days for manual audits).
  2. Ensure audit quality and compliance with Avetta protocols (≥95% per quarter).
  3. Provide technical guidance and support to contractors to close audit gaps.
  4. Respond to supplier inquiries via email or phone within 24–48 hours, documenting all correspondence.
  5. Assist in audit closure and verification processes.
  6. Maintain accurate and timely records in contractor account notes.
  7. Escalate unresolved issues to the QHSE Lead, EMEA or designated Safety Professionals.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support EU supplier engagement and continuous improvement.
  9. MUST HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend internal and external training, meetings, or seminars as required.
  • Support special projects or initiatives within the EMEA region.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical & Regulatory

    • Strong understanding of UK and EU HSE legislation and industry best practices.
    • Ability to interpret and apply Risk based Safety requirements.
    • Familiarity with contractor prequalification and risk-based auditing.

    Digital & Analytical

    • Proficiency in online audit platforms and software systems.
    • Strong PC skills (Windows, Microsoft Office Suite).
    • Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data and audit metrics.

    Communication & Customer Service

    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Demonstrated ability to deliver customer delight through CARES+ principles.
    • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

    Language Capabilities

    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Proficiency in one or more EU languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch) is highly desirable to support regional suppliers.

    Soft Skills

    • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities.
    • High attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment.

IDEAL EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:

  • Potential candidates for this position must meet the following requirements:

    • 2-year or 4-year degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
    • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent HSE certifications (preferred).
    • 1–5 years of experience in safety auditing, contractor verification, or HSE program development.
    • Experience working with EU-based suppliers or in a multinational environment is a plus.
