HVAC Service Technician

Overview

Automated Mechanical is seeking a skilled HVAC Service Technician to join our Provo, Utah team. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, service, and install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for residential and light commercial customers. You will perform inspections, troubleshoot issues, replace components, calibrate controls, and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, service, and install HVAC systems in residential and light commercial settings
• Perform preventative maintenance and system tune-ups
• Troubleshoot electrical, refrigerant, and control system issues; replace components as needed
• Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals
• Calibrate and test system performance; optimize airflow and temperature control
• Ensure safety, code compliance, and quality workmanship; maintain documentation
• Communicate with customers; provide professional recommendations and upsell when appropriate
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle; participate in on-call rotation as required
• Document service activities in our service management system

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; completed HVAC trade program or apprenticeship
• EPA certification (Type II or universal) required
• 1-3 years of HVAC service experience (residential and light commercial)
• Valid driver\'s license and clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in tight spaces, attics, and crawl spaces
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service
• Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints
• Willingness to work in varying weather conditions; must be authorized to work in the US
• Reliable, punctual, and able to pass background checks
