We are searching for a Manager, Enterprise Facility Safety who will provide enterprise-level leadership and coordination for Aurora’s Facility Safety programs. This includes strategy, structure, and execution of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Terminal Safety, and Site Safety initiatives to ensure compliance, risk reduction, and operational readiness across all Aurora facilities. Thus ensuring continuity of leadership and efficient resource management across Aurora's growing footprint.

In this role, you will

  • Develop and execute the Facility Safety strategy, establish a unified framework for site, terminal, and EHS programs that aligns with Aurora’s growth and operational goals.
  • Develop, continuously improve, and manage Enterprise Facility Safety programs, including strategy, policy, metrics, compliance, and operational integration.
  • Accountable for the strategy, execution, and resourcing of both the Terminal Safety Program and the Site Safety Leads Program.
  • Manage a distributed group of EHS Specialists, Terminal Safety staff, and Site Safety Leads. Provide coaching, clear direction, and measurable accountability.
  • Oversee adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local safety and environmental requirements. Maintain audit readiness and track performance through compliance metrics.
  • Proactively assess and address hazards across R&D, office, and terminal environments. Lead credible incident investigations and follow-through on corrective actions.
  • Design and implement risk management programs for unique environments like machine shops, laser laboratories, and test tracks.
  • Develop and oversee annual budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation to deliver program goals efficiently.
  • Partner with Workplace, Security, and Operations to maintain emergency response and business continuity plans. Lead site drills and after-action reviews.
  • Define and track safety KPIs focused on compliance, cost efficiency, and risk reduction. Present progress and improvement plans to the Safety Leadership.
  • Analyze Aurora’s product plans and roadmaps to proactively manage emerging safety risks, especially in Terminal environments.
  • Promote a culture of ownership and accountability: Lead by example to reinforce Aurora’s values and embed safety as a shared organizational priority.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in EHS or facility safety management across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and implementing safety programs for high-risk environments (e.g., test sites, manufacturing, and logistics terminals).
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Effective communicator with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional collaboration skills to partner cross-functionally and represent the function in internal and external forums.
  • Ability to travel as needed, up to 30%.
  • Comfortable working in dynamic field environments; light lifting up to 10 lbs required.
  • Ability to perform light physical tasks and support field-level investigations.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Direct experience managing safety programs across a multi-site, distributed physical footprint.
  • Experience with rapidly scaling operational environments.
  • Professional certifications: CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent.
  • Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or R&D environments.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems (e.g., Samsara, Jira, Fleetio).
  • Experience managing contractor or third-party site safety programs.

The base salary range for this position is $112K-$162K per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
