Job Purpose

Astound Digital is looking for a Salesforce B2C Commerce Technical Architect (PWA kit and Composable Storefronts) to join our growing Commerce Practice. This is a strategic, hands-on role for someone passionate about designing scalable enterprise Salesforce solutions while guiding clients through digital transformation. You will serve as a trusted advisor to our clients, utilizing your deep technical knowledge to guide them through complex digital transformations. You will translate intricate business requirements into scalable, high-performance technical solutions, lead development teams, and act as the subject matter expert for our Salesforce B2C Commerce ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Client Engagement & Solution Architecture:
  • Lead technical discovery workshops with clients to understand their vision, business challenges, and technology landscape.
  • Act as the primary technical advisor, building strong relationships and guiding clients’ strategic decisions regarding their headless commerce architecture.
  • Translate abstract business goals into detailed technical solution designs, architectural blueprints, and actionable development tasks.

• Architectural Design & Strategy:
  • Architect and design end-to-end, headless e-commerce solutions on the Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud platform, with a primary focus on PWA Kit/Composable Storefront.
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including solution blueprints, data models, integration specifications, and architectural diagrams.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into robust, secure, and scalable technical designs, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices.

• Technical Leadership & Development Oversight:
  • Lead and guide a team of front-end and back-end developers, providing technical direction, enforcing coding standards, and conducting code reviews to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical concepts.
  • Oversee the entire development lifecycle, from initial design and prototyping through to deployment, optimization, and post-launch support.

• Performance, Scalability & Security:
  • Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring a fast, reliable, and secure shopping experience.
  • Implement and champion best practices for caching strategies, application performance monitoring (APM), security standards (e.g., WAF, data encryption), and site reliability.
  • Design solutions that can scale effectively to handle peak traffic loads and future business growth.

• Integration & Platform Expertise:
  • Design and manage integrations between Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud and third-party systems, including ERP, CRM, PIM, OMS, and payment gateways.
  • Leverage deep expertise in B2C Commerce APIs, including the Salesforce Commerce API (SCAPI), Open Commerce API (OCAPI), and both GraphQL and REST principles.
  • Ensure the seamless flow of data and functionality across the entire technology stack.

• Mentorship & Innovation:
  • Mentor and develop the technical skills of the architects and developers on the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Stay current with the latest Salesforce B2C Commerce features, headless technologies, and e-commerce trends, and advocate for their adoption where appropriate.

Your skills and qualifications:

• 5-7+ years of experience in e-commerce architecture and development.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience specifically with Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud (formerly Demandware).
• Proven experience with at least one full-cycle implementation of a headless storefront preferably using the Salesforce PWA Kit / Composable Storefront.
• Expert-level understanding of the Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud platform, including Business Manager, site architecture, and data models.
• Strong proficiency in modern front-end technologies: js (or similar modern frameworks), Node.js, JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
• Extensive experience designing and consuming GraphQL and RESTful APIs.
• Experience integrating AI/ML services (e.g., Algolia, Google Vertex AI, OpenAI, Salesforce Einstein) into e-commerce workflows.
• Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and modern build tools (e.g., Webpack).
• Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Good to have:

• Salesforce Certified B2C Commerce Architect certification.
• Salesforce Certified B2C Commerce Developer certification.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) and web application security best practices.
• Experience with other Salesforce Clouds (e.g., Marketing Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud) and their integration points with B2C Commerce.
