Assistant General Counsel

📋 Description

• Provide legal guidance to leadership and staff on nonprofit, tax, employment, and IP.
• Advise on legal issues for Greenpeace campaigns and treaties.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws; support compliance processes.
• Conduct risk assessments; provide staff training; advise activists on risks.
• Collaborate with global Greenpeace network; coordinate with legal and comms teams.
• Liaise with outside counsel on external legal matters.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of legal experience.
• U.S. J.D. or non-U.S. law degree with U.S. LL.M.
• Admission to practice in a U.S. state and DC bar.
• Experience in nonprofit law, political law, contracts, employment, tax, and First Amendment.
• Experience in environmental, human rights or international law (preferred).
• In-house or management experience at a progressive nonprofit (preferred).
