Assistant General Counsel

📋 Description

• Advise Product and Engineering on design/launch of investment and brokerage features with regulatory balance.
• Structure and document new products; advisor tools, custodial features, trading, and disclosures.
• Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, data, tech licenses; brokerage and partner agreements.
• Develop templates, playbooks, and fallback positions to move quickly while mitigating risk.
• Partner with Compliance to align product and commercial terms with SEC, FINRA, and related rules.
• Support regulatory interactions by preparing responses and explaining our legal positions to regulators.

🎯 Requirements

• At least 5 years post-JD at a major firm, regulator, or leading financial services/fintech.
• Experience advising on regulated financial products (broker-dealer, adviser, asset management, payments).
• Strong interest in broker-dealer and/or investment adviser regulation; ability to go deep on relevant rules.
• Ability to translate regulations into clear guidance for Product and Engineering teams.
• Comfort working with technical/data-heavy products and curiosity about system design.
• Meaningful experience drafting/negotiating complex commercial contracts (tech/SaaS, data, FS).
• Ability to balance legal risk, regulatory expectations, and business objectives in negotiations.
• High ownership mindset; thrives in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
