Overview
Archer is seeking a Lead Color and Material Designer (SJ2025JA) to shape the visual language of our products through expert color theory and material decision-making. This on-site role in San Jose, CA leads color and material exploration from concept to production, partnering with product, engineering, and user experience teams to ensure designs are aesthetically compelling and manufacturable.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead color and material system design across Archer’s product lines
- Develop color palettes, finishes, textures, and material strategies
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and manufacturing teams to translate design into manufacturable solutions
- Establish design guidelines and maintain consistency across platforms
- Mentor junior designers and lead design reviews
- Stay current with materials science trends and sustainability considerations
Requirements
- 5+ years in color and material design or industrial design with leadership experience
- Strong portfolio demonstrating color and material work
- Experience leading design projects and cross-functional teams
- Knowledge of color theory, finishes, materials science, and manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
