Overview
Archer is seeking a Flight Test Instrumentation Electrical Design Lead to own the electrical design for flight test instrumentation systems used to evaluate and validate aerospace platforms. You will lead the design, integration, and validation of electrical harnesses, sensors, data acquisition, power systems, and signal integrity for flight test campaigns. Collaboration with systems engineers, hardware teams, software teams, and flight test engineers is essential to ensure instrumentation performance meets test objectives and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design for flight test instrumentation architectures
- Specify, design, and document electrical harnesses, sensors, signal conditioning, power distribution, and data acquisition systems
- Own requirements decomposition, interface control, and risk management for instrumentation
- Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with cross-functional teams during flight tests
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards, EMI/EMC, and safety requirements
- Develop test plans, review test results, and support integration and qualification
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; 8+ years in aerospace, flight test instrumentation, or equivalent
- Strong experience designing electronic systems for instrumentation, data acquisition, sensors, and flight test hardware
- Familiarity with harness design, electrical interfaces, wiring diagrams, and documentation standards (ECUs, CAN, MIL-STD, etc.)
- Knowledge of signal conditioning, EMI/EMC, power distribution, and data communications
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and travel as needed
