Aragon is a remote distributed organization that values freedom and responsibility, offering flexibility in where you work and your schedule. You’ll have access to resources for setting up a productive remote work environment and a personal development budget. This role reports to Aragon X, a Swiss AG dedicated to advancing the Aragon Project. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer supporting a community of DAO builders, developers, and users exploring new forms of social coordination and governance.

About Aragon

Aragon is building tools for the next generation of onchain organizations. We launched the first DAO framework in 2017 and are currently building Aragon OSx, a toolkit used by projects such as Polygon and Taiko.

Role overview

As a Smart Contract Developer, you will join the Solutions team and be directly involved in designing and building custom integrations for clients on top of the Aragon OSx protocol.

Responsibilities

  • Transform client needs into technical designs and production-ready code, always considering the user.
  • Lead projects from inception to live maintenance, delivering secure, high-quality work at every phase.
  • Exhibit deep Solidity expertise, designing intricate contract architectures addressing real-world business challenges.
  • Understand DeFi and major DeFi protocols; collaborate with product and engineering squads to deepen knowledge of web3 technologies.
  • Engage in daily stand-ups, contribute proactively, and solve teammates’ challenges.
  • Build solutions with solid software architecture practices across the Ethereum ecosystem.

Minimum requisites

  • 3+ years delivering software to real users, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Expert-level Solidity experience with designing and optimizing advanced smart contracts.
  • Strong foundation in smart contract security with audit experience and knowledge of vulnerabilities.
  • Strong working proficiency in Foundry and Hardhat.
  • Familiarity with or contributions to Ethereum EIPs.
  • Significant technical contributions to DeFi protocols with substantial TVL.
  • Fluency in TypeScript and libraries such as Ethers (v5, v6) and Viem.
  • Experience across multiple EVM networks (sidechains, OP, ZK rollups).
  • Open-source contributions in blockchain/crypto projects; comfortable in an agile environment with Git, Linear, and Github.
  • Passionate about DAOs and their impact on collaboration; excellent English communication skills.
  • Willingness to attend quarterly offsites in Europe to work in person with the team.

Bonus skills

  • Experience with formal verification of smart contracts.
  • Knowledge of NextJS, Turborepo, IPFS, and related tools.
  • Interest in using LLMs to boost developer productivity.
  • Experience with HEVM, Slither, Echidna, and invariant tests; proficiency in Vyper, Go, or Rust.
  • Mentoring skills and a track record of growing teams.
  • Power user of DeFi and/or Web3 applications.
