Senior Technical Consultant (Secret Clearance)

Overview

Appian Corporation is seeking a Senior Technical Consultant with an active Secret Clearance to join our team in McLean, Virginia. You will lead technical engagements, design and implement Appian-based solutions for government programs, and collaborate with clients and cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical engagements from inception to deployment for government programs, including requirements gathering, solution design, and delivery.
• Configure and customize Appian-based solutions, integrate with enterprise systems, and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with client stakeholders, project managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and compliance.
• Mentor junior consultants, perform code reviews, and promote best practices in development and deployment.
• Manage risk and security controls, ensuring alignment with policy requirements and clearance obligations.
• Produce technical documentation, test plans, and deployment artifacts; support knowledge transfer post-implementation.

Requirements

• Active Secret clearance (required). Other sensitive clearances may be considered for certain programs.
• Strong experience with the Appian platform and enterprise application development.
• Experience with integration patterns, data modeling, and enterprise architecture.
• Proficiency in Java, SQL, web services, and related technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
• 5+ years of technical consulting or solution delivery experience.

Nice to Have

• Experience with government contracting and compliance frameworks.
• Knowledge of security controls and relevant standards (e.g., NIST).
