Industry Vice President, Financial Services at Appian Corporation

We are seeking an Industry Vice President, Financial Services to drive revenue growth and lead a high-performing sales organization focused on the financial services sector.

Role Overview

The Industry Vice President will own and execute the regional/global sales strategy for the Financial Services vertical. This executive will build and lead a top-tier sales team, develop strategic account plans, and drive long-term partnerships with C-suite and senior leaders at major financial services institutions. The role requires close collaboration with Product, Marketing, Services, and Alliances to deliver compelling value propositions and win strategic deals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic sales plan for the Financial Services vertical, including target account strategy, territory planning, and accurate forecasting.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of account executives, solution consultants, and sales specialists.
  • Develop and nurture executive-level relationships within major financial services organizations.
  • Collaborate with product, marketing, services, and alliances to deliver differentiated solutions and value propositions.
  • Own end-to-end sales cycles for strategic deals from discovery through negotiation and closing.
  • Maintain pipeline hygiene, meet or exceed quotas, and contribute to overall revenue targets.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of enterprise software sales experience, with a proven track record selling to financial services organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership of large, complex deals and multi-region teams.
  • Deep knowledge of financial services industry dynamics, regulatory considerations, and technology trends.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with C-level executives; exceptional communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to travel as needed; bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
