Job Summary:
The Director of FP&A is a strategic partner responsible for shaping how Andela plans, invests, and makes decisions as we scale. This role blends analytical rigor, strong business judgment, and clear storytelling to help the executive team navigate complexity and tradeoffs with confidence.
You will own the company’s financial planning engine end-to-end and operate as a deeply embedded partner to leaders across Product, GTM, and Operations. Success in this role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, exercises strong judgment, and takes full ownership of outcomes. This is a role for a steady, proactive operator who sees around corners and brings clarity to complex decisions.
Exceptional Leadership:
As an Andelan, you’ll serve as a role model for the rest of the company, you do not need to manage people to be a leader at Andela! Think about the feedback your peers typically give you – if it usually sounds like the below, we want to hear from you.
Low ego, low drama: You share credit, take blame. You like being wrong because it means someone else had an even better idea.
One team mentality: You break silos across teams. You put the company and mission first above your team alone.
Great listener, hungry for feedback: You’re always seeking to improve – our product, our business, yourself. You solicit diverse opinions and deeply listen.
Owner, not renter: You see a problem, you fix it or find someone who will. The buck stops with you.
Team-player: You roll up your sleeves and get scrappy. You do this by proactively collaborating with your team while actively engaging in important details that matter.
Business problem solver: You’re not just a functional expert; you consistently get praise for approaching your function through the lens of solving business problems.
Key Responsibilities:
Own the corporate financial model and all planning cycles (annual budget, rolling forecast, long-range plan), continuously evolving assumptions to support strategic change
Build capital allocation and investment frameworks to evaluate experiments, new initiatives, and tradeoffs with financial discipline
Lead unit economics, cohort, and scenario analysis to identify optimization opportunities and inform strategic decisions
Partner with Product and GTM leaders to develop rigorous business cases for growth initiatives, pricing, and expansion
Define, track, and forecast core performance metrics (e.g., revenue, MRR, CAC, CLV, churn), translating insights into clear actions
Prepare clear, investor-ready narratives that connect financial performance, operating drivers, and forward-looking strategy
Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing FP&A team and operate a modern, scalable FP&A tech stack that supports self-service analytics
Requirements:
10+ years of experience across FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles, including at least 5 years in corporate/strategic finance at a high-growth SaaS or technology company; prior IB/PE experience strongly preferred
4+ years of people management experience, building and leading high-performing teams
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with modern FP&A tools
Exceptional storyteller, capable of distilling complex analyses into strategic insights for executive and board audiences with clarity and precision; ability to influence across all levels without direct authority
A collaborative, proactive, curious, and strategic mindset with a passion for problem solving and driving impact
Systems thinker who connects financial drivers to business strategy
