(Senior) Research Associate, Protein Purification and Analytics

Role Overview

Ampersand is seeking a Senior Research Associate for Protein Purification and Analytics to join our team in Pilsen, Czech Republic. This on-site role focuses on designing, executing, and optimizing purification workflows for recombinant proteins and performing analytical characterization to support research and development efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize protein purification strategies (e.g., affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography).
• Perform analytical assays to characterize purified proteins, including SDS-PAGE, HPLC/UPLC, SEC, and mass spectrometry as needed.
• Maintain thorough documentation, analyze data, and contribute to data-driven decision making.
• Collaborate with biochemistry, molecular biology, and analytical teams to advance protein science and product development.
• Troubleshoot purification issues, improve yield and purity, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field (MSc preferred).
• Hands-on experience with protein purification and relevant analytical techniques.
• Strong understanding of chromatography principles (affinity, ion-exchange, gel filtration) and protein characterization techniques (mass spectrometry, SEC).
• Excellent data analysis, documentation, and collaboration skills.
