Overview
The Dean of Culture at Amber Charter Schools will lead the development and implementation of a positive, inclusive school culture at Amber Charter School Middle School. The role partners with the principal, teachers, students, families, and community organizations to create a safe, welcoming environment where all students can thrive academically and socially. The Dean will champion restorative practices, SEL, equity initiatives, and professional development to support teachers and staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead and monitor school climate initiatives and restorative practices to cultivate a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Design and implement strategies to improve student well-being, attendance, and behavior within a trauma-informed, equity-centered framework.
- Collaborate with school leaders, teachers, families, and community partners to create programs that promote belonging and high expectations for all students.
- Oversee professional development for staff on SEL, restorative practices, inclusive pedagogy, and equity.
- Analyze climate and student engagement data to inform decisions and report to the leadership team.
- Develop and supervise student support programs, PBIS, mentorship, and behavior interventions.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing supervision of culture-related staff and student services personnel.
- Foster strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and local stakeholders; organize family engagement activities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's mission, vision, and core values.
- Ensure compliance with charter policies and maintain a safe, respectful school environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of leadership experience in educational settings, with a focus on school culture or student support; middle school experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of restorative practices, SEL, trauma-informed approaches, and DEI principles.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze climate and student outcome data; experience with PBIS and behavior management systems.
- Commitment to equity, anti-racist practices, and building partnerships with families and communities.
