Academic Tutor (part-time)

Amber Charter Schools is seeking a dedicated part-time Academic Tutor to support students across core subject areas and help raise achievement. The tutor will work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills, monitor progress, and support classroom instruction.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted tutoring in core subjects (e.g., mathematics, reading, and science) to individual students and small groups.
• Assess student needs, develop short-term learning goals, and monitor progress over time.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align tutoring with curriculum and classroom expectations.
• Create a positive, inclusive learning environment and adapt strategies for diverse learners.
• Maintain documentation of student progress and communicate with parents/guardians as appropriate.
• Support after-school or enrichment programs as needed and maintain reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; patient and encouraging demeanor.
• Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and accessible manner.
• Prior tutoring or teaching experience is preferred; experience with K-12 students a plus.
• Reliable and available to work part-time hours, including after-school or evenings.
• Background check and any required clearances per school policy.

Work Environment and Schedule

Part-time position with flexible scheduling to support after-school tutoring and optional enrichment programs. This role may require some in-person sessions at school sites or remote tutoring as assigned.
