We’re looking for a

Senior Databricks Engineer

to join our growing data team and help drive forward innovative, high-impact projects. If you have a solid background in

Azure Databricks, strong data engineering experience, and a passion for solving real-world problems with data, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a fully remote opportunity, offering flexibility and the chance to work on innovative projects that directly impact real-world business decisions.

Who are we looking for:

An experienced data engineer who has used

Databricks

in a

production environment

on either

Azure or AWS, and is confident designing

high-throughput data pipelines. You should be comfortable working with

Spark

and SQL, and ideally have experience with

Delta Lake,

Unity Catalog, and some exposure to

statistical modelling

MLOps.

Experience in the airline industry is a big plus, but not a must.

Key skills & experience:

7+ years in data engineering, specialising in Azure Databricks
Proficient in PySpark, SQL, large-scale data sets, Azure Data Lake & Data Factory
Strong grounding in data modelling, warehousing, integration, and governance
Proven Databricks production expertise: Unity Catalog, medallion architecture, workflow deployment
Experience building greenfield enterprise data platforms from design to production, with scalable, maintainable foundations
Strong software engineering practices: CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring/observability, incident response, Git-based version control
Data quality expertise: frameworks for validation, monitoring, and alerting on mission-critical pipelines
Skilled at Agile delivery under ambiguous requirements with rapid, high-quality iteration
Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Key responsibilities & duties include:

Design, develop, and optimise scalable pipelines using Azure Databricks
Engineer enterprise-grade platforms and foundations from scratch
Implement medallion architecture and governance via Unity Catalog
Develop and maintain ETL/ELT workflows (PySpark on Databricks)
Integrate structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sources
Ensure performance, reliability (99.9% uptime), observability, and incident response
Embed data quality, validation, testing, and monitoring processes
Support production operations and troubleshoot issues
Drive DevOps best practices and CI/CD in Azure data solutions
Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver robust, business-aligned outcomes
Ensure security, compliance, and regulatory alignment
Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and team knowledge sharing

Desirable skills:

Experience working in or with the airline industry (e.g., booking systems, flight operations, loyalty programs)
Exposure to data governance and security best practices in a regulated environment
