Data Science Intern - Summer 2026 at Altruist

Altruist is seeking a motivated Data Science Intern for Summer 2026 to help turn data into actionable insights. You will work with a cross-functional team to analyze product and business data, build lightweight models, and contribute to experiments in a fintech environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in data analysis, Python programming, and data storytelling in a fintech environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists, product, and engineering teams to translate business questions into data-driven analyses.
• Explore, clean, and preprocess data from multiple sources.
• Build and test simple predictive models or experiments; evaluate results.
• Create clear data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Document methods, code, and results; iterate based on feedback.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python; experience with libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn is a plus.
• Familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or similar) is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Interest in fintech, health tech, or consumer financial services is a plus.
• Available for the Summer 2026 internship period and able to work on-site in San Francisco.
