Role overview

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Web Performance to lead performance efforts for AlphaSense's web applications from our Helsinki office. You will own front-end performance, collaborate with product and engineering teams to optimize user experience, and mentor engineers across teams.

What you'll do

• Lead performance initiatives across the front-end stack to improve Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID, CLS) and overall user experience.

• Instrument and collect performance telemetry; build dashboards and budgets.
\n
• Collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to implement performance-focused solutions.
\n
• Review code and architectures for performance implications; mentor engineers.
\n
• Help shape performance strategy and best practices across the company.
\n

What we're looking for

\n
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with web applications.
\n
• Deep expertise in web performance optimization and measurement (LCP, FID, CLS, Web Vitals).
\n
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and front-end frameworks (React).
\n
• Experience with Node.js, performance tooling (Lighthouse, Chrome UX Report, WebPageTest), profiling and observability.
\n
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to influence across teams.
\n
• Based in Helsinki, Finland, or willingness to work on-site in Helsinki.
\n

Nice-to-have

• Experience with cloud deployments, CI/CD, and monitoring platforms.
\n
• Familiarity with modern web architectures and telemetry platforms (Grafana/Prometheus, etc.).
