Senior Software Engineer - Identity

Location: Remote - Eastern Time Zone. Work model: Remote. This role focuses on designing and building identity services to secure onboarding, authentication, authorization, and user provisioning across Alpaca's platform. You will collaborate with product, security, and backend teams to scale identity infrastructure for millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain identity-related services (authentication, authorization, user provisioning, identity verification)
• Build secure APIs and robust integrations with OAuth, OpenID Connect, and JWT-based flows
• Improve security, reliability, and performance of identity systems
• Collaborate with frontend teams to ship features with good UX and strong security
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in code reviews, design reviews, and architectural decisions
• Ensure compliance with security and data privacy requirements

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Strong experience with authentication/identity protocols (OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect)
• Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js or similar modern language
• Track record building scalable backend services and REST APIs
• Knowledge of security best practices, cryptography, and threat modeling
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
