Role Overview

The Nurse Practitioner will provide high-quality primary and urgent care within the Kern Street Medicine program. The role involves direct patient care, medical decision-making, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of community members in a mobile/street medicine context.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive physical exams and health assessments
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions
• Prescribe medications within scope of practice and monitor responses
• Provide wound care, minor procedures, and preventive services
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests; coordinate referrals to specialists as needed
• Document patient encounters accurately in the EMR/EHR systems
• Engage in trauma-informed, patient-centered care
• Collaborate with physicians, social workers, and community partners
• Participate in outreach and mobile clinic activities as required

Qualifications

• Current California Nurse Practitioner license and board certification (Family Practice / Adult-Gerontology or equivalent)
• Active DEA registration
• BLS/ACLS certification
• Experience in community health, mobile clinics, or street medicine is preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor/mobile clinic environment

Location & Hours

Bakersfield, California (on-site). Full-time role with clinic/outreach hours as needed.
