Overview

Airbnb is seeking a Staff Security Engineer, Data Security to lead the design and implementation of data security controls across Airbnb's platform. This role focuses on protecting user data, building scalable security solutions, and partnering with product and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead data security strategy across the product and infrastructure teams.
• Design and implement encryption, access control, key management, and data loss prevention controls.
• Develop security metrics, threat modeling, and incident response plans for data security events.
• Collaborate with platform engineering teams to embed security into software development lifecycles.
• Mentor engineers and drive security best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of security engineering experience with a focus on data protection and privacy.
• Strong background in data encryption, data governance, access management, and threat modeling.
• Experience designing security controls for large-scale systems and cloud environments.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence across teams.
• Bachelor's or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
