Software Engineer, KV Stores & Caching

📋 Description

• Build and scale critical infrastructure powering Airbnb's KV store and caching systems.
• Tackle distributed systems problems with guidance from senior engineers.
• Evolve KV store from derived-data workloads to system-of-record needs.
• Improve caching solutions used across Airbnb.
• Add observability to debug latency across the caching stack.
• Develop tooling for safe rolling upgrades across many cache clusters.
• Profile and optimize hot paths in KV client libraries to reduce latency.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Strong collaboration and communication across teams.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
• Ability to write clean, readable, testable code.
• Experience onboarding to a complex codebase.
• Enthusiasm for learning infrastructure engineering.
• Exposure to distributed caching systems or KV stores is a plus.

• Base pay range: $157,000 – $185,000 USD.
