Senior Staff Technical Program Manager, Search Relevance & Personalization

Overview

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Staff Technical Program Manager to lead high-impact initiatives focused on Search Relevance and Personalization. In this remote role, you will partner with product, engineering, data science, design, and infrastructure teams to define program scope, align stakeholders, and drive timely delivery across Airbnb’s search experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and execution of cross-functional programs that enhance search relevance and personalization across Airbnb’s platform.
• Define program roadmaps, milestones, success metrics, and risk management plans; track progress and adapt as needed.
• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, design and operations to gather requirements, manage dependencies, and drive releases at scale.
• Influence without direct authority by building consensus among stakeholders and prioritizing work based on impact and data.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and cross-functional teams; translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and coach other program management teammates and contribute to PM discipline within the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of technical program management or related experience in a large-scale tech environment.
• Proven track record delivering complex programs spanning engineering, product, data science, and design.
• Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence without authority.
• Experience with search, relevance, ranking, personalization, and ML/AI concepts is a plus; comfort with data-driven decision making and metrics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed team.
