Senior Security Engineer, Threat Detection & Response

Overview

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to lead threat detection and incident response across our platform. In this role you will design and operate detection strategies, respond to incidents, and collaborate with security and engineering teams to protect user trust.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and maintain detection rules for cloud, network, and endpoint environments
• Lead incident response, post-incident reviews, and root-cause analysis
• Develop security telemetry and automation using SIEM/EDR tools
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to embed security into the software development lifecycle
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to threat intelligence sharing

What we're looking for

• Experience in security operations, threat detection, and incident response
• Proficiency with SIEM and EDR platforms and security monitoring
• Strong scripting and programming skills (Python, Bash)
• Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and secure software delivery
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
