Senior Counsel, APAC Employment & Ethics

Overview

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Counsel to lead APAC Employment & Ethics. This senior legal role provides strategic guidance on employment law, ethics, and regulatory compliance across the Asia-Pacific region, partnering with cross-functional teams to support Airbnb's global operations while upholding our standards of integrity and trust.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on all APAC employment law matters, including hiring, compensation, terminations, misclassification, wage and hour compliance, and employee relations.
• Develop, implement, and monitor ethical standards and compliance policies; lead investigations; respond to internal concerns and regulatory inquiries.
• Draft, negotiate, and review employment agreements, restrictive covenants, policies, and related documentation; ensure alignment with local laws and global policy frameworks.
• Monitor changes in APAC labor and employment regulations; provide timely guidance to HR, Legal, and business leaders across multiple jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (HR, Compliance, Privacy, Finance, Security) to manage risk and ensure policy adherence across products and operations.
• Manage relationships with external counsel; supervise budgets and outside counsel strategy as needed.
• Support special projects including international mobility, privacy implications, and due diligence for M&A or partnerships as they relate to employment and ethics.

Required Qualifications

• Qualified attorney with a strong track record in employment law and ethics within the APAC region (min 8 years preferred).
• Experience advising tech companies or multinational organizations on complex cross-border employment and compliance matters.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to influence senior stakeholders and work cross-functionally.
• Proven ability to navigate fast-paced environments and manage investigations with discretion and integrity.
• Fluency in English; proficiency in additional APAC languages is a plus.
