About the Company
Our client is a fast-growing retail company operating 30+ locations across the U.S., with plans to add multiple new locations annually. The business is scaling rapidly, backed by strong leadership and a modern approach to operations. They’re looking for a hands-on, experienced Controller to build structure, improve processes, and bring financial rigor to the company’s next stage of growth.
About the Role
The Financial Controller will oversee all accounting operations, manage a small bookkeeping team, and own the monthly close and reporting process. This is a role for a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment — someone who can roll up their sleeves, streamline processes, and provide accurate, timely insights to leadership.
You’ll collaborate closely with the CFO and the executive team to strengthen financial systems, implement automation, and support budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate is CPA-qualified, process-driven, and experienced in leading accounting operations for a multi-unit or retail-based business.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full accounting cycle, including reconciliations, journal entries, month-end, and year-end close.
Manage and mentor a team of bookkeepers, ensuring accuracy and accountability.
Prepare consolidated financial statements and maintain the general ledger across multiple entities.
Oversee cash reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
Develop and improve accounting policies, processes, and internal controls, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency.
Leverage accounting software (ideally Xero) to maintain accurate books and streamline reporting.
Utilize reporting tools like Fathom (or similar) to produce management reports and dashboards.
Partner with the CFO and P&L owners to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Produce accurate, timely financial and management reports to support decision-making.
Support external auditors during audits and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and leadership to maintain financial visibility across all laundromat locations.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2+ years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and multi-entity accounting.
Proven experience managing bookkeeping or accounting staff, ideally in an offshore or remote setup.
Hands-on experience with monthly close, reconciliations, and reporting.
Tools: Xero and Fathom (or similar) preferred
Skilled in identifying and implementing process improvements or automation tools.
Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting (FP&A) is a strong plus.
Audit experience preferred (not required).
Excellent communication and leadership skills — able to collaborate effectively with executives and team members across time zones.
Experience in retail, multi-location, or franchise-style businesses preferred.
Fluent in English, written and spoken.
