Senior Counsel, Product

Role Overview

Affirm is seeking a Senior Counsel, Product to join its Legal team. This remote UK role provides strategic legal counsel on product development, privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance across Affirm's product platforms. You will collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Security to support launches, policy updates, and third‑party partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal guidance on product development and go‑to‑market initiatives
• Draft, review, and negotiate product terms, partnerships, licenses, and vendor agreements
• Advise on privacy, data protection, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance (GDPR/UK data laws)
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to assess risk and ensure compliance for new features
• Manage and respond to regulatory inquiries and audits as needed
• Support policy drafting and disclosures, terms of service, and privacy notices
• Mentor junior lawyers and help build scalable legal processes

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in product counseling or in‑house legal at a tech company
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction
• Strong knowledge of consumer protection, privacy, and data security laws (e.g., GDPR, UK GDPR)
• Experience negotiating with partners and vendors
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, remote environment
• Experience supporting product launches and working with cross‑functional teams
