Manager, Software Engineering

Overview

Affirm is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead a high-performing engineering team, guide technical direction, and deliver reliable software for our customers. This is a remote role in the United States. You will collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure teams to architect scalable systems, mentor engineers, and drive delivery excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers
• Define technical strategy, architecture, and coding standards
• Collaborate with product, design, security, and operations teams
• Deliver high-quality software releases on schedule
• Own hiring, performance management, and career development for team members
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and security of systems
• Participate in code reviews and engineering practices

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience; at least 2 years in a leadership role
• Strong hands-on coding and architectural thinking
• Experience building scalable web applications and distributed systems
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor\'s degree or equivalent experience
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus
