ActBlue is seeking a Senior Software Engineer II for its AAA team. This remote-friendly role will involve building and maintaining scalable software that powers ActBlue's donor experience and payment platform. You will collaborate with product, design, and operations to deliver robust features, improve performance, reliability, and security, and help drive architectural decisions. This position offers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a high-quality, collaborative engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain software components and services.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into reliable, scalable solutions.
• Mentor junior engineers and help grow the team's capabilities.
• Improve system performance, reliability, security, and observability.
• Participate in code reviews and help uphold coding standards and testing practices.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency with at least one server-side language (e.g., Ruby, Python, Java, Node.js).
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and writing efficient queries.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React) is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a distributed, remote-first engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
