About Abridge

Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.

Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.

We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.

The Role

As a Staff IT Automation Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for driving efficiency and scale across the entire corporate IT infrastructure and enterprise ecosystem. You will design, build, and maintain mission-critical automation solutions that eliminate manual processes, enhance security posture, and improve the employee experience globally. This role requires deep engineering expertise, an IT product mindset for automation, and the ability to mentor junior team members while tackling the organization's most complex integration and scaling challenges. You will work directly with IT leadership, Security leadership, and department heads across the company.

What You'll Do

  • SaaS Ecosystem Automation: Lead the architectural design and implementation of automated workflows that provision, de-provision, and manage users and licenses across the organization's critical SaaS ecosystem, including platforms like Google Workspace, Slack, GitHub, Notion, Rippling, and other core business applications.

  • Workflow Automation: Develop scalable, resilient workflow automation solutions to streamline critical business processes, including onboarding/offboarding, access requests, compliance enforcement, and self-service IT support.

  • Asset Management Automation: Design and implement solutions for the automated lifecycle management of various endpoints and assets, including corporate laptops, mobile devices, and servers, ensuring configuration consistency and rapid compliance remediation.

  • API and Integration Development: Serve as the subject matter expert for integrating disparate systems by building robust, fault-tolerant connections using APIs and event-driven architectures.

  • Identity and Access Management (IAM): Drive automation within the IAM infrastructure, focusing on automated role assignment, least-privilege policy enforcement, and audit-friendly logging of authentication/authorization events.

  • Enterprise Data Engineering: Drive the architecture and engineering of robust data platforms for IT, ensuring efficient collection, normalization, and secure storage of high-volume enterprise data for reporting, audit, and advanced analytics.

  • Technical Leadership: Act as a force multiplier for the team, establishing engineering best practices, leading code reviews, documenting architectures, and mentoring other engineers in automation principles.

What You'll Need

  • Experience: 10 years of experience in IT Engineering, IT Apps Development or DevOps, with at least 5 years dedicated to developing large-scale, enterprise environments where services were automated.

  • Cloud and Platform Expertise: Deep hands-on experience automating complex operations and governance across major enterprise platforms, including GCP, AWS, and/or Azure.

  • Operating System Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with MacOS and iOS. Bonus points for Linux and Windows based systems experience.

  • Programming Proficiency: Highly proficient in at least one modern programming language, with a strong preference for Python for backend logic and automation scripting.

  • ITSM Automation: Demonstrated experience automating core IT Service Management (ITSM) functions, including ticket lifecycle management, CMDB updates, and change management processes, preferably using platforms like Serval, Jira, etc.

  • Systems Integration: Proven, deep experience working directly with a variety of technical interfaces, including robust utilization of APIs and querying and managing various databases (SQL experience a strong plus).

  • Automation Platforms: Extensive experience designing, deploying, and managing centralized automation platforms (e.g., SOAR, dedicated workflow engines like Ansible, Workato, or custom frameworks).

  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to dissect complex, cross-functional business problems and translate them into simple, maintainable, and highly efficient code-based solutions.

  • Communications: Be able to communicate effectively and build confidence across a wide variety of audiences, from engineers to GoToMarket team members, from front line team members to executives.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with Agentic AI or Machine Learning models to enhance automation processes, such as proactive issue detection, intelligent routing, or natural language processing.

  • Familiarity with modern infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.

  • Direct experience with tools such as Fleet (for asset management), JAMF, etc.
