As a Solution Engineer at 8returns, you’ll own the technical solutions that make our platform seamless for merchants. You’ll build and maintain integrations, create automation and AI tooling to reduce onboarding time, and quickly resolve technical friction points. If you enjoy delivering pragmatic solutions and thrive at the intersection of product, customers, and technology, this role is for you.
3+ years of experience developing and maintaining production integrations or middleware (APIs, webhooks, job queues).
Proficiency in at least one server-side technology stack (Node.js/TypeScript, Ruby/Rails, or Go), with the flexibility to learn others as needed.
Strong understanding of REST APIs, authentication methods (JWT/HMAC), background job systems (e.g., BullMQ, Sidekiq), and data mapping techniques.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with customers and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Proven capability to independently progress from identifying a vague problem to delivering a robust solution.
Experience or interest in integrating AI tooling (OpenAI function-calling, RAG, LangChain) to automate routine tasks.
Background in e-commerce, logistics, or SaaS integration.
Familiarity with Rails and React
Ship integrations end‑to‑end between the 8returns API and external systems such as ERPs, 3PLs, carriers, and merchant platforms.
Develop reusable middleware and connector tooling, automating repetitive integration tasks.
Provide technical support during merchant onboarding, answering queries asynchronously (Slack, email) and occasionally joining calls to resolve complex issues.
Experiment with and implement AI-driven solutions and Model Context Protocols (MCPs)
Quickly diagnose and fix customer-facing technical issues
Collaborate closely with Engineering, Customer Success, Sales, and Product teams to identify priorities, streamline processes, and deliver impactful solutions.
