2K creates immersive, award-winning games and experiences. We are seeking a Senior Anti-Cheat Engineer to join our security team in San Mateo, CA.
Role
As a Senior Anti-Cheat Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain anti-cheat systems to protect live games from cheating, hacks, and exploit abuse. You will work with game developers, platform engineers, data scientists, and security teams to detect, deter, and mitigate cheating, while ensuring performance and player experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain anti-cheat solutions for PC/console/mobile games.
- Implement detection, prevention, and remediation mechanisms.
- Collaborate with game teams to integrate anti-cheat with gameplay systems, telemetry, and server authoritative logic.
- Analyze cheating patterns, perform threat modeling, and respond to incidents.
- Optimize for low overhead and high reliability; profile and tune performance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years in software engineering, preferably in game development or security.
- Strong proficiency in C/C++ and low-level programming.
- Experience with anti-cheat systems, anti-tamper, memory scanning, kernel-level modules (optional).
- Familiarity with cheat telemetry, analytics, and data-driven approaches.
- Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience with large-scale online games, distributed systems, and security tooling.
