Senior 3D Character Artist at 2K
Role Overview
Join 2K as a Senior 3D Character Artist to create high fidelity character assets for AAA games. You will collaborate with art direction and production teams to deliver production-ready characters that meet technical constraints and artistic direction.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D character models from concept to in-game asset
- Sculpt, model, texture, and retopologize characters using ZBrush, Maya, and Substance Painter
- Work with rigs and skin weights, ensuring compatibility with animation and gameplay pipelines
- Optimize geometry and textures for performance across platforms
- Collaborate with lighting, shading, and technical art teams to meet style and technical requirements
- Review and iterate on feedback from producers and leads
Requirements
- Strong portfolio of character work including stylized or realistic characters
- Proficiency in ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, and Photoshop
- Experience with PBR textures, UV mapping, retopology, and normal maps
- Understanding of character rigging and skinning principles
- Knowledge of game pipelines and asset integration
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- 5+ years of professional experience in character art or related field
Nice to Have
- Experience with motion capture data, realistic hair and cloth simulation
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine or Unity pipelines
- Scripting or pipeline automation experience
