Lead Concept Artist - Valencia, Spain
Role overview
We are looking for an experienced Lead Concept Artist to drive the visual direction of our projects. You will mentor artists, establish style guidelines, and collaborate closely with directors, designers, and engineers to translate concepts into immersive game visuals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the concept art process from initial sketches to polished concepts for characters, environments, and props.
- Define and communicate visual direction through strong, cohesive art direction and style guides.
- Mentor and review work from junior and mid-level concept artists to maintain quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with Art Directors, Designers, and Engineers to implement the look and feel of projects.
- Iterate concepts based on feedback, deadlines, and project scope while maintaining creative integrity.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional concept art experience in video games or related fields.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating character design, environment design, and storytelling through imagery.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools (e.g., Photoshop, ZBrush, Maya) and familiarity with 2D/3D workflows.
- Solid understanding of anatomy, composition, color theory, lighting, and storytelling through visuals.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to lead a team and work across disciplines.
Nice to have
- Experience with Unreal Engine or Unity and real-time rendering concepts.
- Experience mentoring and managing artists in a game development environment.
- B.A./B.A. in Arts, Illustration, or related field.
