2K is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers in our Moorpark, California studio. This role reports to the Technical Director and is responsible for driving technical strategy, delivery, and mentorship across multiple projects in game development.
Overview
As Engineering Manager, you will set engineering direction, balance scope and risk, and partner with design, production, and QA to deliver high quality gameplay systems and tools. You will foster a culture of craftsmanship, code quality, and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, setting clear goals and career development plans.
- Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and coding standards.
- Plan and track work across multiple projects, ensuring on time delivery and quality.
- Collaborate with design, product, and art to deliver compelling gameplay features.
- Oversee code reviews, testing strategies, and performance optimizations.
- Recruit, hire, and onboard senior engineers; coach junior engineers.
- Foster an inclusive, high performance culture with a focus on safety and quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years in people management or team leadership.
- Strong programming background in C++ and or modern game engines and a deep understanding of gameplay systems.
- Experience with software architecture, design patterns, and scalable systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to influence across disciplines.
- Bachelor, degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated leadership in delivering shipped titles or major features.
Nice to have
- Experience with live operations, analytics, and player feedback loops.
- Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
- Experience with hiring and building diverse teams.
