2K is a leading video game publisher and developer known for NBA 2K and BioShock. We are looking for a Core Engineer to join our team in Valencia to help build and optimize core gameplay and engine systems that power our titles.

Role Overview

As a Core Engineer at 2K, you will design, implement, and optimize core game systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the technical direction of our projects. You will work on performance-critical subsystems, memory management, and tooling to improve developer productivity and game quality.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain core engine and gameplay systems.
Collaborate with gameplay engineers, designers, artists, and QA to deliver high-quality features.
Profile and optimize performance, memory usage, and loading times across platforms.
Write clean, maintainable code with robust tests and participate in code reviews.
Contribute to tooling and pipelines to improve developer efficiency.
Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge with the team.

Qualifications

Strong experience in C++ and modern software engineering practices.
4+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in games or interactive media.
Experience with at least one game engine (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and multi-threaded programming.
Proficiency with profiling tools and performance optimization techniques.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Nice to Have

Knowledge of graphics, rendering, or shader programming is a plus.
Experience with tooling, build systems, and automation.
Spanish language proficiency is a plus (not required).

Location and Work Model

Location: Valencia, Spain. This is an on-site role based in our Valencia studio.
